Professor Garcia is a graduate of the University of La Verne College of Law.

In addition to being Valedictorian of her class, she was a Senior Staff Writer for the Journal of Juvenile Law and participated on several award-winning moot court competition teams. She also served as a volunteer law clerk and attorney in the Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit of the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office.

In addition to teaching, Professor Garcia directs the Academic Support Program, which helps students gain the skills necessary for success in law school. The Academic Support Program includes Academic Support Workshops, the Peer Assistance and Support System (PASS), and the Graduate Mentor Program. The workshops provide generalized guidance for specific study or exam-taking skills. PASS and the Graduate Mentor Program provide individualized or small-group assistance in study and exam-taking skills by current outstanding students and recent outstanding graduates. In addition, Professor Garcia assists in coordinating La Verne's moot court program.
