ULV COLLEGE OF LAW GRADUATES CELEBRATE
ADMISSION TO CALIFORNIA BAR; COLLEGE OF LAW GRADS BEAT STATE AVERAGE
WITH 63 PERCENT PASS RATE
ONTARIO, CA (DEC. 2, 2002) University of La Verne College
of Law graduates today were sworn in by Superior Court Judge Paul
Egly, retired, and Federal Magistrate Judge Stephen Larson as
members of the California Bar based on their successful passage
of the California Bar Exam. Following the official ceremony at
the College of Law they are admitted to the California Bar and
are fully vested with the right to practice law in California.
The College of Law graduates took the exam in July and achieved
a 63 percent pass rate. The statewide average in California for
the July exam was 50.5 percent. The California Bar is ranked among
the most difficult in the United States and is administered twice
per year. It is a three-day exam consisting of six essays, two
performance questions and a full day of multiple choice questions
which are administered across the country.
"Practicing law is a hard-earned privilege and a tremendous
responsibility. I know each of our students will make a difference
in their communities and in the lives of those they counsel,"
said H. Randall Rubin, Interim Dean of the University of La Verne
College of Law. "We congratulate each student on a job well-done
and wish them the very best in their new career."
