Dual Degree Programs Inspire New Student Organization at ULV College of Law
Ontario, Calif., November 30, 2007 – To help law students navigate the unique challenges of pursuing University of La Verne (ULV)’s J.D./M.B.A. and J.D./M.P.A. dual degree programs and to promote opportunities available to ULV students interested in practicing law in a business climate, the University of La Verne College of Law has established the Society of Legal Studies and Business.
The mission of ULV’s new student organization includes supporting the continuing development of the University’s J.D./M.B.A. and J.D./M.P.A. degree programs and promoting the varying interdisciplinary opportunities available to students interested in law and business. In addition, the Society of Legal Studies & Business will foster the creation of productive working relationships with academic clubs at the University’s Ontario-based College of Law and La Verne-based College of Business and Public Management.
More than 20 students comprise the founding membership for the Society of Legal Studies and Business; student officers include President Eric Chung, Vice President Dane Gilliam, Secretary Ladd Hoyal, Treasurer Lauren Lenza and Public Relations Director Ace Tate.
“The intersection of law and business provides a multitude of career opportunities for successful law students with keen business sense,” said Professor Kevin Marshall, the student organization’s faculty advisor. “The Society of Legal Studies & Business will help students better understand there is more to legal practice than law firms and courtrooms.”
