For Immediate Release Contact: Celebrate Conflict Resolution Day at the University of La Verne College of Law Ontario, Calif., October 13, 2008 – In celebration of Conflict Resolution Day, The Case of the Impatient Dog will be mediated by Ken Reed, a professional mediator from Los Angeles Oct. 16 at the University of La Verne College of Law campus in Ontario, Calif. The event is set to feature La Verne Law’s own Professor Ed Perez, the injured party, and Professor Megan Chaney, the dog’s owner. Students are invited to observe the mediation in room 217 from Noon to 1 p.m. and discuss the event in room 215 immediately after. Bring your lunch and dessert will be provided. “This is our way to promote mediation and educate the public about its benefits,” Professor of Law Susan Nauss Exon said. “My students prefer to observe the ‘real thing’ in an experiential setting rather than have a speaker talk about mediation theory.” Professor Exon and her Mediation class are sponsoring the event. The Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) established Conflict Resolution Day in 2005 to increase public awareness about conflict resolution and its many benefits. ACR works with local, state and international groups to hold local events in conjunction with the celebration. The official celebration is held annually on the third Thursday of October.
