University of La Verne College of Law Students Recognized for Outstanding Academic Achievement and Service

Ontario, Calif., February 3, 2010 –Three University of La Verne College of Law students were recognized by the Inland Empire Chapter of the Federal Bar Association for their academic achievements and service to the college community.

Third-year students, Sofia Ahmed, Olen-Keith Guiab and Curtis Wright, received certificates and $250 grants from the chapter for their achievements. All three students rank near the top of their classes, and are editors of the University of La Verne Law Review. Both Ahmed and Wright also served as Peer Assisted System & Support (PASS) volunteers, where they provided academic support to first-year law students.

“Recognition from a chapter of the Federal Bar Association is a notable achievement that speaks volumes about the character and commitment these three students have towards advancing their legal careers,” said Dean Easley “We are proud of Sofia, Olen and Curtis for their contributions to La Verne Law, and see bright futures ahead for each them.”

Ahmed is senior citations editor of the Law Review, and was a member of the College of Law fifth place moot court team that competed in the First Amendment Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C. last fall. She hopes to pursue a career in litigation as a trial attorney.  Guiab is editor in chief of the Law Review, and believes his achievements will prepare him for a career as a successful attorney.  Wright is the Law Review associate editor and plans to pursue law as a litigator.
