INCREASED INTEREST IN LAW RECORDED AS LSAT TAKERS REGISTER IN RECORD NUMBERS; LSAT TEST TO BE HELD OCTOBER 5, 2002, AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LA VERNE COLLEGE OF LAW

ONTARIO, CA (OCT. 2, 2002) —The University of La Verne College of Law in Ontario expects a record number of test takers at its administration this Saturday of the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) for those preparing to apply for law school. The College of Law’s LSAT-takers mirror a national trend of increasing interest in the field of law.

"Economic factors are playing a significant role in raising interest in law," said Alexis Boles, Assistant Dean of Admissions at the University of La Verne College of Law. "People across the country are finding ways to increase their marketability in this tough economic climate. A law degree provides a professional advantage."

"The October 5 administration of the LSAT will likely be the largest national LSAT administration ever," according to Ed Haggerty, a spokesperson for the Law School Admission Council, a national nonprofit based in Newtown, Pennsylvania. He reports this follows a 23.1 percent increase in LSAT-takers in the June 2001 through Feb. 2002 test cycle and a 17.4 percent increase in the number of students entering law school this fall. Currently, the University of La Verne College of Law has more than 200 registrations for its administration of the test.

The College of Law is currently accepting applications for spring 2003 enrollment with classes beginning Jan. 13, 2003. The College’s schedule provides students with choices including full- and part-time programs, and spring and fall enrollment.

The LSAT is a half-day standardized test offered four times per year across the United States, and provides a standard measure of acquired reading, analytical and logical reasoning skills law schools use as one of several factors in assessing applicants. To register for the LSAT at the University of La Verne College of Law, or for more information about the LSAT, visit www.lsac.org.
