For Immediate Release Contact: Jason Anderson Receives Jennifer Brooks Lawyer-of-the-Year Award Ontario, Calif., September 29, 2008 – University of La Verne College of Law Adjunct Professor Jason Anderson will receive the Jennifer Brooks Lawyer-of-the-Year award Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Red Hill Country Club. The Brooks award is given each year to a local lawyer who demonstrates the “five Cs;” candor, compassion, civility, courage and competence. Prof. Anderson, who is also Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Ontario, was selected from among a pool of nominees by the Western San Bernardino County Bar Association board of directors. “Jason’s commitment to the community and his integrity as a lawyer and professor distinguishes him from among his peers; he deservers this honor,” La Verne Law Dean Allen Easley said. Incoming Association President Beverly Sparrow, who is a La Verne Law alumnus, will give Prof. Anderson the honor during an awards dinner Oct. 16. Jennifer Brooks was a lawyer who practiced law with great integrity and demonstrated the “five Cs,” said Association President Anthony Sears. Candidates for the award are judged by their qualities as outlined by the “five Cs,” he added. Brook’s sister Sharman and their parents Judge James Brooks and Wendy Brooks will attend the event.
