University of La Verne College of Law Faculty Given Top Award
by International Legal Fraternity
ONTARIO, Calif. (February 2, 2005) – Professor Susan Nauss Exon of University of La Verne College of Law was named the “Most Outstanding Professor” by Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, International for the 2003-2004 academic year. The service group recognizes one professor per year within the fraternity.
“I was very surprised, and I was very proud on behalf of University of La Verne College of Law,” Exon said. “This underscores a part of the law school’s mission, which is service to the community.”
Aside from her gifts as a teacher, Exon was recognized for her volunteer work over the years. She is a past president and long-time member of Soroptimist International of Riverside; active in her church; active in the community; and at her students’ behest, serves as advisor and honorary member of the Egly Senate, the law school’s chapter of Delta Theta Phi. Exon’s volunteer work exemplifies the fraternity’s mission.
The Egly Senate has volunteered with Pomona High School’s Peer Review Court, coaching high school students in resolving disputes. Last year, the fraternity provided relief efforts for the victims of the devastating Southern California fires; and the chapter is currently working on relief efforts for the tsunami disaster that has impacted other parts of the world.
“We are very proud of Susan,” said Dean Donald Dunn. “This award not only attests to the outstanding students and professors we have, but the outstanding overall quality of the law school.”
Exon teaches Civil Procedure, Professional Responsibility, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Law Practice Seminar: Principles, Policies and Ethics.
