University of La Verne College of Law Adds Trifecta of High-Powered Adjunct Faculty

ONTARIO, Calif. (January 24, 2005) – A superior court judge, highly experienced prosecutor, and public defender are new adjunct faculty at the University of La Verne College of Law beginning January.  They join the 17 full-time and eight adjunct professors currently on staff.

Superior Court Judge Daniel J. Buckley, Deputy District Attorney Michele Elizalde Daly and Appellate Attorney Debbie M. Page recently joined the only law school in the Inland Empire as it prepares to apply for American Bar Association accreditation this spring.

“We like balance for our students in the overall curriculum. It was fortuitous that we were able to attract talent of this caliber,” said Associate Dean H. Randall Rubin, referring to the trifecta of members of the legal profession.

Judge Daniel J. Buckley presides over general civil court in the Pomona branch of the Los Angeles County Superior Court.  Buckley has also had extensive experience as litigator for the Los Angeles firm of Breidenbach, Buckley, Huchting, Halm and Hamblet.  A graduate of University of Notre Dame Law School, Buckley will teach a section of Appellate Advocacy.

Deputy District Attorney Michele Elizalde Daly is a longtime prosecutor for the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office.  She is the lead deputy district attorney in the Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit.  A graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley, Daly will teach an Evidence class.

Appellate Attorney Debbie M. Page is a member of the California Appellate Project Panel in Los Angeles, and has had extensive service at the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office.  She is a past president of the Black Public Defenders Association.  Page is a graduate of Whittier Law School and has also taught there as adjunct faculty.  She will teach Criminal Law and Appellate Advocacy.

“Bringing in practitioners and judges adds a certain richness to the curriculum,” Rubin said.  “The ABA looks favorably at additions like these.”
