Stephen G. Larson is a United States District Judge for the Central District of California. Judge Larson presides in the District's Eastern Division in Riverside, California, where he hears both civil and criminal cases. Judge Larson has sat by designation on multiple panels of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Previously, Judge Larson served the Central District of California as a United States Magistrate Judge (2000-2006) in both Los Angeles and Riverside and as an Assistant United States Attorney (1991-2000), was assigned to the Criminal Division where he served as Chief of the Organized Crime section.

Prior to his career in government service, Judge Larson was employed as a
litigation associate in the Los Angeles office of O’Melveny & Myers, LLP (1989-1991), during which time he was a co-author of The Guide to Acquisition and Management of a U.S. Business, Eurostudy Publishing Co. Ltd. (1991).

Judge Larson graduated from the University of Southern California Law School in 1989, where he was a member of the Southern California Law Review, and from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1986, where he was awarded a fellowship in the School’s Institute for the Study of Diplomacy.

Judge Larson is an adjunct professor and a member of the Board of Visitors at the University of La Verne College of Law, where he has taught classes on federal courts, conflicts of law, civil rights, and criminal procedure since 2002. Judge Larson has also served on faculty panels at various academic and governmental institutions worldwide, where he has lectured on issues relating to the rule of law, civil and criminal law reform, transnational organized crime, international money laundering, and asset forfeiture..

Judge Larson presently serves as a member of Executive Board of the Department of State's Public Private Partnership for Justice Reform in Afghanistan and is a member of the Pacific Council on the International Policy.
