Judge Bennett serves as the alumni board representative. Prior to being appointed to the Superior Court in 2006 Judge Bennett served for 17 years as a public defender representing indigent defendants accused of capital crimes in Rancho Cucamonga. The University of La Verne College of Law takes pride in her membership in the Association of Defence Counsel at The Hague, Netherlands, where she is qualified to represent defendants accused of war crimes in the former Yugoslavia. She has been frequent guest lecturer to the community colleges on the Role of the Public Defender in the Criminal Justice System. Her community involvements range from PTA Board member, to Assistance League, to Co-Chair of the Missions and Services Commission Church of the Brethren. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association of the University of La Verne College of Law, she has chaired the Alumni Association’s annual golf tournament for scholarships and is a Past President, Vice-President and Treasurer of the College of Law’s alumni Board. She is fluent in French.
